It is with great sadness we report that Lucy died on the morning of 11th January 2026 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Anthony Bufton (YG 1982) has sent in the following:Lucy had a great presence in our year at Friends’ School and maintained many of her school friendships throughout her life.Lucy played a key role in organising our YG 1982 reunion in April 2025, this despite her diagnosis and treatment. She showed huge courage and determination, particularly over the weekend itself.Lucy leaves behind a husband, daughter and recent grandson, son, mother and sister, and many, many friends. She will be greatly missed by all of us.Lucy’s funeral was held in Durham on 3rd February 2026. A second ‘Farewell to Lucy’ is planned for Tuesday 5th May in Alton, Hants, where Lucy’s ashes will be scattered into the River Wey.
